Assignment – Frontend Developer with Strong UX Focus and System Integration Skills

We are currently looking for an experienced Frontend Developer to support the development of an advanced in-store sales tool aimed at enhancing the daily workflow of retail staff. This solution is a critical component of a broader digital ecosystem used across multiple international markets in the retail sector.

As a consultant, you will play a central role in building and maintaining a modern user interface using React and TypeScript. Additionally, you will implement a Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layer in Node.js, designed to seamlessly orchestrate backend service calls such as product details, inventory status, pricing, and customer information.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a core part of an ongoing digital transformation, focused on improving the user experience for sales staff and ensuring streamlined and efficient service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a component-based frontend architecture using React and TypeScript.
• Implement and evolve a Node.js-based BFF to handle service orchestration and RESTful proxy logic.
• Ensure full adherence to accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG) and seamless alignment with the organization's established design system.
• Optimize UI behavior for responsiveness across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
• Enable robust handling of simultaneous customer workflows and manage long-running sessions.
• Design UI that dynamically updates based on backend-driven events.
• Collaborate closely with UX designers, backend developers, and product stakeholders to translate requirements into performant and user-friendly solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in React and TypeScript with solid knowledge of component-driven architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js and building BFF layers for RESTful proxy and service orchestration.
• Familiarity with JWT-based authentication and authorization flows.
• Solid grasp of API integration, including caching strategies and frontend-driven orchestration patterns.
• Knowledge and application of accessibility standards (such as WCAG) and experience in building responsive user interfaces.
• Ability to build resilient applications capable of handling offline mode, error scenarios, and extended user sessions.

• Other tools/concepts: Progressive Web App (PWA), REST APIs with HATEOAS, JWT, OpenTelemetry

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Next.js
• Background in retail or sales-related environments

• End date: August 31, 2025 (extension possible)
• Workload: Full-time (100%)
• Location: Malmö, Sweden
• Onsite Requirements: Minimum 3 days per week at the office
• Travel: Rare
• On-call Duties: Expected after production go-live
• Language: English (fluent)
