Katam Technologies is a team of ambitious entrepreneurs who want to revolutionize the forest industry through innovative technologies and services. Their tools help clients measure forests using drones, smartphones and action cameras, enabling data-driven and sustainable forest management. Now they are looking for a skilled Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join them on their exciting journey!

Katam is a green tech startup founded in 2016 in Lund. They provide the forest sector with data to support operational as well as long-term strategic decisions. By using Computer vision, Artificial intelligence, patented algorithms and Katam’s forestry expertise, forest data is transformed into valuable decision-making facts for our customers around the world. More precise forest management will increase wood volume growth and production yield. These are key components for reducing CO2 net emission and at same time driving business for the global forest industry.

The team works from the office in Lund, where around 20 people are currently based. In addition to the main office in Sweden, Katam also has a growing presence internationally, with local offices both in Brazil and Indonesia.

ARBETSUPPGIFTER

Work tasks

In this role as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a central part in strengthening and systematizing Katam’s quality assurance efforts for backend systems and automated validation processes. This is a newly established role, created to provide long-term ownership and structure within quality assurance, and you will have the opportunity to shape and influence how the role develops over time based on your experience and ideas.

You will own the end-to-end quality assurance of backend workflows that support analytics and production environments. This includes orchestrating automated test runs, validating results, and ensuring that regression and system-level tests are consistently applied before software releases. You will work closely with R&D and Operations to ensure that quality signals are reliable and well understood across teams.

You will work within a Scrum-based development rhythm, participating in ongoing projects as well as with long-term quality assurance initiatives. A key part of your work is to gather, analyze and present test results in clear statistical reports that give insights into quality trends, performance stability and regression test outcomes over time. You will take ownership of regression testing, ensuring that updates across multiple backend modules are systematically validated and tracked over time.

Your role is to move the quality work from being reactive and incident-driven towards a proactive and systematic practice that can be reliably demonstrated to stakeholders, you will be expected to build a deep understanding of how the system works, and will be challenged to understand how different system modules interact and influence overall quality outcomes. We see this role as proactive and inquisitive in nature, where you are encouraged to question results, contribute insights, and actively suggest improvements that strengthen both quality and performance across the system.

VI SÖKER DIG SOM

• Work experience in software quality assurance, backend testing, or system validation
• Relevant university degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, or similar field
• Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of statistics, with the ability to interpret test data, performance metrics, and quality trends over time
• Understanding of regression testing and system-level validation
• Experience with regression testing and system-level validation in complex systems
• Experience owning, maintaining, and evaluating automated test and validation systems
• Be able to understand and have an interest in complete systems and system behaviour and their importance for output quality and performance.

It is meritorious if you have

• Experience working in or alongside DevOps and cloud-based environments
• Experience with Python and NoSQL, with ability to read, adjust, and execute test scripts
